DHL’s Relay Race in Denmark is Europe’s largest amateur race with over 100 000 participants during the week of the event. The founder of the DHL Relay Race was inspired by U.S. companies advertising their business with a similar approach. Since the start in 1983, the number of teams have increased from 125 to 21 000.
In short the relay consists of teams that are usually assembled at various workplaces around Denmark with five participants in each team, which all will run five kilometers each.
The relay, which is a very festive event, attracts various people and this year DHL Managers from the Nordic countries, in high level positions, were attending.
In my opinion the initiative seizes what DHL does in a nutshell, that is deliver a package from sender to recipient in the fastest way possible, which is achieved through trust and cooperation between colleagues.
